The CBO Group was an overseas general contractor with operations in Bahrain, Iraq, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. I was appointed to the board as director of overseas engineering when the company started to expand into the far east (Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines). In 1981 the group decided to reduce in size, close down the Middle and Far Eastern operations, and concentrate on West Africa.
